A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

I grew up in Holland, Michigan, home of the colorful Tulip Time Festival. While volunteering on my high school yearbook, I developed an interest in graphic design, which led to earning a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication Design from Purdue University in 2006. After graduation I worked for Crate and Barrel as a freelance designer, and soon became a full-time designer. In 2011 I was promoted to Senior Designer. My husband and I were married in 2012, and when our first child was born in 2013, I left Crate and Barrel to be a full-time mom. A couple years later I began working part-time from home as a freelance graphic designer.

With 20 years of design experience, my specialties include creating and strengthening brand identities and marketing collateral for small businesses. I am also interested in finding creative and affordable solutions for those business needs. I enjoy working collaboratively to develop typography, print design, packaging design, photo styling of small goods, surface pattern design, and wayfinding signage systems. My work extends from an initial concept for a brand identity all the way through final production. I am available to provide art direction and project management through the whole process and I’m always looking for options to fit any budget.

When I’m not working I enjoy taking walks with my husband and our three boys to explore God’s beautiful creation, going on road trips, playing tennis or pickle ball, and taking care of my house plants. I am fascinated with letterpress printing and have participated in several workshops at the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. With help from the letterpress community, I recently purchased a Vandercook No. 1 Proof Press. I look forward to getting inky and using my creative skills while playing with wood type at home.
